The American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Original (Full Course/Expired) Course is an instructor-led Initial course for those who do not have a current American Heart Association PALS Provider card or for those whose card has expired.

PALS is designed to improve the quality of care provided to critically ill or injured infants and children, resulting in improved patient outcomes. This advanced-level course builds on foundational pediatric life support knowledge and focuses on the early recognition and management of respiratory failure, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest in pediatric patients.

The PALS course emphasizes the importance of high-quality CPR, effective team communication, and coordinated resuscitation efforts using a systematic, evidence-based approach. Participants learn to apply critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills through realistic case-based scenarios and hands-on practice.

Key topics include pediatric assessment, airway management, rhythm recognition, pharmacology, defibrillation and cardioversion, post–cardiac arrest care, and the management of pediatric medical emergencies. The course reinforces the use of PALS algorithms and promotes high-performance team dynamics in emergency and critical care settings.

The PALS course is intended for advanced-level healthcare professionals who respond to pediatric emergencies, including physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and paramedicsIf you are not an advanced-level provider, please contact the Training Center Coordinator prior to enrolling in the course.  Upon successful completion of the course requirements, participants receive an AHA PALS Provider course completion card, valid for two years.

COURSE FORMAT: 16 HOURS (OVER 2 DAYS). STUDENTS MUST ATTEND BOTH DAYS.
