(ACLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Original (Full Course/Expired) Course is an advanced, instructor-led Initial course for those who do not have a current American Heart Association ACLS Provider card or for those whose card has expired.  The ACLS Provider Course is aimed at advanced-level healthcare providers (RN, RT, PA, NP, MD, and Paramedics). If you are not an advanced-level provider, please contact the Training Center Coordinator prior to enrolling in the course.

ACLS  highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care, cardiac arrest, and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. In this course, skills are taught in group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.  The student is expected to have a basic working knowledge of ECG rhythm interpretation (3-4 Lead) ECG Interpretation, and basic Pharmacology prior to attending the ACLS Original (Full Course/Expired) Course.  Students should have completed the Basic Coronary Care (BCC) program prior to completing this course. 

Successful course completion includes demonstrating skills competency in all learning stations and passing the CPR and AED skills test, a bag-mask ventilation skills test, a Megacode test, and a written exam. Upon successful completion, students receive an ACLS Provider card valid for two years.

COURSE FORMAT: 16 HOURS (OVER 2 DAYS). STUDENTS MUST ATTEND BOTH DAYS.

This course is primarily for HealthAlliance Clinton Hospital Employees. This class is offered at no cost to HealthAlliance Clinton Hospital Employees.

Non-HealthAlliance Clinton Hospital Employees may enroll in the class, but may be asked to reschedule if the class fills up.

Employees of UMass Memorial Hospital (University/Memorial/Hahnemann/Marlborough/Harrington) are offered a 25% discount on the cost of the class.
