The  Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)  AND  Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) Renewal Course is designed specifically for those with a current (non-lapsed) American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular (ACLS) Provider Card at the time of class.  If you have a current, non-lapsed  AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider card, your BLS for Healthcare Provider card will also be renewed.  A Current BLS (CPR) Card is NOT required for this class. (Per the AHA, there is no grace period.)  

The student is expected to have a basic working knowledge of  3-4 Lead ECG Interpretation and basic pharmacology prior to attending an ACLS Course.  Students should have completed the Nursing Basic Coronary Care (BCC) program prior to completing this course. 

Successful course completion includes demonstrating skills competency in all learning stations and passing the CPR and AED skills test, a bag-mask ventilation skills test, a Megacode test, and a written exam. Upon successful completion, students receive an ACLS Provider card (and BLS/CPR if you have a current AHA BLS/CPR Card), valid for two years.

This class will also incorporate the Basic Life Support (BLS) Classroom Renewal Course for those with a current BLS (CPR) for Healthcare Provider card. In this course, students will refresh their ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide CPR, use an AED, and relieve choking in a safe, timely, and effective manner.

This course is primarily for HealthAlliance Clinton Hospital Employees. This class is offered at no cost to HealthAlliance Clinton Hospital Employees.

Non-HealthAlliance Clinton Hospital Employees may enroll in the class, but may be asked to reschedule if the class fills up.

Employees of UMass Memorial Hospital (University/Memorial/Hahnemann/Marlborough/Harrington) are offered a 25% discount on the cost of the class.
